For Princesses (she changed her nickname yet again… She’s asked us to call her Princess or Pinkalicious at all times from now on!) 5th birthday we went with a ballet birthday party. I wanted something different than other ballerina cakes I’d seen around the internet, so when it struck me to do a point shoe on it’s toe I just had to do it!
I didn’t want it to have a dismembered foot in it, so it’s just the shoe. I stacked four 6 inch round cakes together with a dowel running down the center. Then I started carving away until I was happy with the shape! Then covered it with ganache and fondant!, and at the end added thin fondant ribbons.
After I finished I kind of wished I’d made a second one as well, so it was a pair instead of just a single shoe. But I LOVE how it turned out, and so did the birthday girl and guests!
