I received a sample box of Tillamook greek yogurt to try, all opinions are my own
I love Greek food, LOVE it. So naturally I love Tzatziki sauce. I love to make Gyro’s, Greek Salad and I’m currently working on a Greek Burger. So I’ve made like 4 batches of this recently while I’m recipe testing! Mmmm
This recipe is based off of a THICK greek yogurt, if your yogurt isn’t thick enough you’ll need to strain it for awhile. It all depends on how thick you like your sauce.
You can either use a tea towel, gather and tie it to a wooden spoon over a bowl, or I find it easier to use a few paper towels in my pasta strainer over a bowl.
Tzatziki Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C greek yogurt
- 1 medium cucumber
- pinch kosher salt
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp red wine vinegar
- 5-6 mint leaves minced - more or less depending on your preference
Instructions
- peel and de-seed the cucumber then grate - place the grated cucumber in a tea towel, gather the ends and squeeze to remove the liquid
- You can either just stir all the ingredients together (in this case be sure to mince the mint leaves well)
- OR place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend - you can blend a little or a lot depending on the texture you want in the end.
- refrigerate and let the flavors develop together.
- serve with pita bread triangles or on top of gyros

If you didn’t strain your greek yogurt it will still taste amazing, but it will be runnier. I like to strain mine and end up with a thicker version. But it’s totally a personal preference.

The plain is my favorite since I eat it as is with a touch of honey and also use it in cooking. I am looking forward to trying this sauce. Thanks for the recipe.
Ashlee
Agreed, I buy plain yogurt by the truck load, and use it in baking and cooking all the time!

This sauce sounds delicious, as do most of the Tillamook flavors! I usually go for fruit flavors first, so the blueberry, strawberry and raspberry all sound delicious!
Ashlee
Everything tastes amazing. Although I totally expected that from Tillamook! My favorite is probably the raspberry!

Oh–how I love Tillamook yogurt. They don’t sell it in Texas (I can find cheese and a few odd things), but when we lived in Oregon I always ate the vanilla one. I really miss it!
Ashlee
Where in TX? I used to live in Dallas and Houston (and miss them both!) AND Oregon (was raised there from 2-17). So you’ve lived in all the best places!
Danielle
I absolutely LOVE tzatziki!
Ashlee
Me too! Let me know what you think of this recipe if you try it!
