So today I have another Pinterest Inspired project! This time it’s a craft. I’ve mentioned before how A.D.D. I am when it comes to crafting, I’ll stick with one medium for awhile, then move on to another one. Well this last week it all of a sudden HIT me. I’M HAVING A BABY!!! Insane, it’s less than 8 weeks away at this point.
When I realized that I was down to the single digits it kind of freaked me out, esp because I hadn’t made anything for this baby yet! All the other ones I made blankets, burp clothes, etc… for. Clearly being the 5th he doesn’t have a lot of NEEDS (except a car-seat, we apparently got rid of our infant baby carrier after the last baby, GAH!) but I still wanted to make him something. So I was on Pinterest and I was looking at the lovely baby photography images and I started noticing all the lovely crochet and knit hats on the babies.
LIGHTBULB!!! A hat for baby pictures. And since most of the adorable hats aren’t really appropriate for anything other than pictures (long, not very safe) I can leave some of the hat’s (and cocoon) with my sister as “payment” for her taking pictures for me! Perfect! I pinned this hat from Neanners Shop, in fact half of the patterns I used where her patterns! Lovely, easy to follow, lovely!
I actually ended up making 4 hats, and 2 cocoons AND my 10 year old made a hat too! But I just wanted to focus on ONE this week, the one I’m the most proud of, because I tried new techniques I hadn’t tried before!
It was my first time using double pointed needles in knitting (remember one of my goals for this year was to learn to knit, so I’ve only been knitting for 6 months now) and my first time using more than one color, first time doing stripes and I am SO happy with how it turned out. I ended up learning a lot from this hat, I actually ended up taking it apart a few times before I was pleased with it!
The rest of the hats hopefully I’ll be able to share with a BABY in them (of course I’ll re-show this one with baby pictures as well, but I was just TOO excited, and proud and wanted to share this one right away!).Don't miss out on a new recipe.
