I love making cakes for family and friends! There is something about personally knowing the bride or groom that make it SO worth the time and work and make it something special! When my mom’s best friend’s daughter told me what she wanted I was THRILLED!
Most people have asked how I did it! I always for get to do a tutorial at 2 am in the morning when I’m working in terrible light and trying to get it done quickly but beautifully! I need a full time photographer to take pictures while I work! I’ll work on a tutorial once the kids are back in school for anyone interested!
The top layer we decided to try to recreate the brides jeweled belt! Isn’t it lovely? her dress was ivory, as the sash holding the belt in place was blush! I love it when the cake compliments the brides dress! And the color, instead of pure white, was GORGEOUS!
I used edible silver balls in different sizes, then colored some white balls with a few different shades of luster dust, creating some flowers and swirls. Then filled in with pearls and clear crystals!
I was really tickled with how it turned out! She also asked for some small detail piping on top, so we did a few drops, added a few more pearls and we’re done!
This cake had one final challenge… It had to be gluten free!!! AND I couldn’t just swap out gluten flour for all purpose, cause these recipes used self rising and cake flour! So lots of substitutions, but I think it turned out pretty good! I just have to say I am SOOO glad I’m not gluten free, I love my wheat based flour!
