I am a total meat and potatoes girl, while my husband is a veggie and salad guy. As in he doesn’t like Steak and I LOVE steak. So I don’t usually make heavy meat based meals. On the SUPER rare occasions when we go out to eat I like to go places where I can get a good steak.

But it’s not always economical to get an amazing steak. SO I decided during my last pregnancy (I’m anemic when pregnant and eat a LOT of meat) to learn how to make a GREAT steak. I’ve tried EVERY recipe I’ve been able to find and this is the BEST one!

I like to serve mine with baked potatoes and a homemade roll. If I’m serving my family as well? Then I add a salad!

I hope you’ve been enjoying this series as much as I am!  I have to say, it’s prob super silly, but I’m SO in love with my new bosch, and I love doing photoshoot’s with her.  Soooo she needs a name.  I WAS going to call her Vera (and if any of you can figure out why you get MAD points) but when my friend Shannon won a Bosch she claimed the name.  Now it’s just not right, SO I need a new name.  I’m taking suggestions.

The Bosch universal slicer shredder is my most used extra attachment (more than the blender, although my husband likes the blender the best).  AND before we get started a reminder that Bosch is having a sale for Mothers day, buy the universal mixer and add a Slicer Shredder for $49.99. Kay, I use this slicer shredder ALL the time!  It holds 12 cups, works with potatoes, veggies and all cheeses!  All the disks are dishwasher safe, FYI.

The shredding and grating disk (reversible coarse/fine) is great, I use the coarse side for grating cheese and for grating potatoes for some soups.  Carrots and Zucchini too of course.  I use the fine side for smaller cheese for tacos, or topping a salad, the smaller grating is just so pretty!

This is the Slicing disk (reversible thick/thin)  It’s GREAT for slicing cheese, potatoes, squash, carrots, and other veggies (I love slicing cucumbers to dip in dressing)

Back when I bought mine it came with the fine gratter below, now it comes with this AWESOME french fry disk.  I NEED this disk, it’s totally on my Mothers day list.  I love fries, seriously LOVE fries.  I can’t wait to try it out!  In addition to slicing french fries, it can be used to slice vegetables for soup or a tray

This fine grating disk is now an extra but worth it, I use this more than any other.  I use it for grating fresh Parmesan ALL the time (we go through a LOT of parmesan)!  You can also rice mashed potatoes to make the most lovely mashed potatoes EVER.

The last two options for disks are the Julienne and the Rasping disk.  Use the Julienne create matchstick shaped fruits and vegetables for use in salads. And the Rasping disk allows you to rasp ice and make sauces or grating hard cheese. Use to make your vegetables or fruits into a saucy, juicy consistency, the possibilities are endless.  This is ALSO on my mothers day disk!  RASP ICE!  perfect for summer!

Now I use the disks a LOT but I use this whisk attachment even MORE! Hard to believe? BELIEVE IT.  This whisk is small and fast and whips whipping cream up FAST, as well as eggs (white, yolks, whole eggs, all of them).  Since it’s 12 cups (vs the 20 cups of the main bowl) it’s great for smaller batches, but I use the Bowl for big batches of course.

You’ve seen pictures of my eggs/cream in this bowl ALL the time, I’ve tried to make it easier, so I made a tag for the whisk so you can see all the recipes I use it for. (I also updated the last post with info on using the whisks, whips, paddles and hook as well)

And the final new piece, the mini dough hook.  Perfect for mixing smaller amounts of dough like pizza, bread or rolls.  Now I don’t usually make small batches of ANYTHING, but I COULD (if I had this – hint hint Mr. Topsy Turvy)

Parenting, Marriage, LIFE… Wonderful? Yes… But it’s all hard work too. We all have our strengths. There is a lot in life that comes natural to each of us, and other things that we each struggle with. I’m really good at making cakes, cooking and baking and I’m GREAT with babies, but I struggle with pre-teen girls, sports and keeping my house clean.

Now sometimes we go to our parents, or maybe siblings for advice and help. But sometimes they don’t face the same things we do. Like with the Asperger’s.  My parents, siblings, friends, simply don’t get it.  So finding friends that can understand what I’m going through sometimes is a HUGE relief to me.

Last week we talked about the basics of the Bosch Universal mixer, and why it is AMAZING (and why I like it better than kitchen aid) this week we’re talking the bowl- including the whisks, dough hook, and other accessories.

But FIRST, this week Bosch sent me a NEW universal mixer to play with so I could share some of the new features with you! You guys!!! I’m SO excited, not only to get to play with a new Bosch mixer, but they have made some really fun improvements (not that there was much to improve).

My favorite by FAR is that you can now twist and pop the bottom off and pull out the drive shaft to make cleaning easier. Seriously AMAZING! I went over to my sisters today and taught her how to do it and cleaned. It’s AWWWWWWSOME!!!

Last week after my post my sister asked why her new Bosch didn’t have a section to wrap the cord around. Turns out there is an open section in the bottom of the Bosch, you just push your cord back into (not that Betty has often been unplugged and had to USE the cord wrap around).

It also has SUCTION cups on the bottom and holds it even BETTER than it did before on your counter. And it’s more compact and sleek.

They also added a safety feature too, you HAVE to have the motor drive cover covering the blender motor or it won’t turn on. I’ve never come close to being hurt BUT extra safety is always a good thing, right?

This week I want to focus on the BOWL! First off it’s HUGE! It’s a 6 quart mixing bowl, that holds 20 Cups of flour and makes 6+ loafs of bread at once. ROCKSTAR! Don’t forget it’s dishwasher safe, seriously a great bowl. They also have a stainless steel bowl. I wish I had it for when I work with royal icing. But other than that I’ve never had a need for it.

And the double lid, aka the splash ring and cover. I love this feature, you can put the mixer on 1 and add powder/liquid without having it poof/splash everywhere. Then cover it fully to beat on higher speeds, keep the batter moist, etc… I like that it FULLY covers so I don’t have to wait until it’s all incorporated to beat it on high.

Now the attachments. The machine comes with the dough hook and whisks. You can also get cookie paddles, batter whips and bowl scraper! I love love LOVE my cookie paddles, I use them more than the rest.

Let’s break it down: The dough hook I use this for all thick dough’s, like breads, bagels, donuts and thick cookie dough’s! Yeast based dough’s usually. And you know that trick on Pinterest where you shred the boiled chicken? Yup this hook works great for that (just while they are still warm). Whisks I use these for batters or things you want to beat, whisk, fold and mix. Cake batters, whipping cream, eggs are all perfect examples. here are recipes I use my whisks on

Cookie Paddles These are great for that in between, in between whisks and beaters. It’s perfect for creaming butter and cream cheese. You want to make sure you have a metal whisk holder to use with the paddles. It’s stronger and handles the thicker dough’s better than the plastic whisk holders.

I use cookie paddles for all my frosting’s too. I don’t want air bubbles when I’m frosting and pipping and the whisks beat in air, while the paddles don’t! I also use the paddles to fold in egg whites and whipped cream into batters, on pulse. click here for recipes I use my cookie paddles for

Batter Whips These are similar to the whisks but with less… whisks… and they work GREAT for pastries! I use them to cut butter, so tart crusts, pie crusts, etc… Any recipe that calls for a pastry cutter? you can use these instead. Just DON’T overdo it, it’s easy to go from pea size pieces to smooth batter, then your crust is ruined. These also work great for when my frostings need MORE than the cookie paddles for smoothness, but don’t want a lot of air beat in. recipes when I use my whips

Bowl Scrapper this attaches on TOP of the whisk holder, and it’s so cool. I wasn’t sure if it would work, or be an annoyance, but it works great. Keeps the center post and sides clean and the batter/dough from creeping up the center and the sides re mixing. No more stopping to scrap all the time.

I have EVERY single one of these and they ALL fit into my bowl so they don’t take up a ton of room. Now since I use mine a few times daily I actually have small cupboard for my bosch accessories, but they CAN all fit if you need them too!

I love pasta. Like LOVE it. Alfredo has been my favorite sauce forever. So when I first started cooking from scratch this was one of th first recipies I worked on. It’s been a family favorite ever since. I make it about once a month. And it cooks up fast so it’s a great last min meal when I’m short on time.
