Cupcake tower wedding cake!

One of my Baby Sisters friends from high school got married this last weekend. My sister is actually making a full scale cake for the reception in Idaho. But the grooms mother called me and asked if I’d make a small cake to top off a cupcake tower they were planning on having. Since I didn’t have to make the cupcakes I said I’d love to! And what a fun cake! Black and pink polka dots! Adorable! The amazing thing? The brides mother made matching dresses for ALL the girls in the wedding party, there were at least 10, if not more. As well as all the table runners. All pink with black dots, or black with pink dot’s. Really a very very fun theme!

She even picked really fun flavors. My Lemon as well as my White cake! My only problem was that they insisted on marshmallow fondant. Don’t get me wrong, it’s cheap and tastes, well it doesn’t taste AS bad. But either way it’s chewy and not really all that good to eat. My problem with marshmallow fondant is it’s not white, it’s off white. AND it’s just not as nice to work with as quality fondant (like Satin Ice). But having worked with it before I knew what to expect.

It think it turned out great, and with the amazing decor and lighting they had you couldn’t tell that it wasn’t a true white! So Congrats to the happy and beautiful couple!

  4. The cake looks amazing! I love cake decorating, but have only done it with buttercream frosting – I haven’t ventured to try fondant yet, but yours looks so good, so I may have to try it! I’m now following so I can be inspired by your cakes! :)

    • Go for it! It’s really very fun once you start playing with fondant and getting the hang of it! There is just so much you can do with it. I like carving my cakes and using fondant to cover them. The possibilities are endless!
